I refer to a statement in the
Bunbury Mail
on 30 October 2013, that 1,000 families had realised the dream of owning their own home through the Opening Doors Initiative, and ask:
(a) how many of the 1,000 families reside in:
(i) Bunbury;
(ii) Greater Bunbury;
(iii) Busselton; and
(iv) the South West electoral region;
(b) how many of the 1,000 properties were Department of Housing properties previously available as public housing;
(c) how much money was generated from the sale of these properties;
(d) how much of the money generated from the sale of the 1,000 properties was paid into consolidated revenue and how much was quarantined with the Department of Housing for the provision of additional public housing;
(e) how many properties have been purchased with the money generated from the sale of the 1,000 properties; and
(f) in relation to (e), for each property, please state:
(i) the cost of the property;
(ii) the type of property (unit complex, single house, etc.);
(iii) the size and R code zoning of the property;
(iv) whether the property when purchased contained a dwelling that was fit and ready for habitation or needed to be redeveloped;
(v) how many people can reside at the property; and
(vi) the location of the property, by suburb or town?

The Department of Housing advises: (a) (i) 7 (ii) 8 (iii) 3 (iv) 65 (b) Properties were spot purchased or constructed specifically for affordable housing and were not made available for public housing. (c) The Affordable Housing Program is designed to be cost neutral. Proceeds from the sales are wholly utilised in the acquisition of land, the construction of dwellings and the funding of shared equity opportunities. (d-f) Not applicable
