Once again I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Economic benefits from the Bentley Technology Precinct project stem from the construction, development and the subsequent operations of the precinct. The full extent of the benefit is difficult to estimate at this stage of the project and it will depend upon the market conditions at the time. However, economic consultants to the project have estimated that the construction phase alone will generate around $300 million. Once the expansion is complete, the additional revenue to the park is estimated to be $10 million per annum and will produce an extra 50 jobs. (2) The return to government includes the strengthening of the state’s research and development, and associated commercialisation capacity and capability. The full extent of the return will depend on the scale of activity that is generated. (3) The technology precinct master plan and structure plan has been completed and submitted to the Western Australian Planning Commission for consideration and final approval. (4) The government’s commitment to future stages of this project is subject to planning approvals and further consideration by government.
