(1) Relating to question five, for any of the jurisdictions were there changes to the manner in which statistics were recorded for the number of transcripts prepared for each month which would effect a comparative analysis between the two periods in 2006 and 2007?
(2) If yes to (1) -
(a) what were these changes; and
(b) when did these changes come into effect?
(3) On how many occasions since the beginning of the current Court Recording Contract has the second or overflow contractor been engaged to handle workload when levels of work for the primary contractor have reached levels that will result in non-compliance with specified delivery times and disruption to service delivery?
(4) Which jurisdictions have audits outstanding from the second quarter?
(5) As a consequence of receiving the audits from the various jurisdictions that are subject to the audits, has the performance of the Court Recording Contractors remained the same, improved or worsened?
(6) Are there delays in receiving the quarterly audits from all or some of the jurisdictions?
(7) If yes to (6), what is causing these delays?
(8) Notwithstanding the use of the overflow or second contractor, what are the numbers and percentages of total transcripts per month which have not met service delivery requirements for each jurisdiction covered by the court recording contract? (3) The second or overflow contractor has been engaged on 21 occasions.
(4) All jurisdictions except the Family Court and the Magistrates Court have completed their second quarter audits.
(5) The performance of the Court Recording Contractors has generally improved. It is noteworthy to mention that the contractors have advised the Department that they have been struggling to recruit and maintain staffing levels.
(6) Yes.
(7) Delays have occurred in the Family Court and the Magistrates Court. The delay in the Family Court was caused by a breakdown in the scheduling of the audit process and in the Magistrates Court the delay was caused by the temporary reallocation of resources to other priority areas. The audits are now up to date.
(8) Timeline figures are listed by contractor and by month for the period 1 January to 30 June 2007 for each jurisdiction under the new Court Recording and Transcription Contract. See attached table
