I refer to the Treasurer’s Advance Authorisation and provisions made in the Western Australia Police budget and I ask:
(a) can the Minister specify where cost overruns occurred and how the figure of $2,533,000 was arrived at;
(b) as part of the supplementary funding, where did shortfalls in anticipated revenue occur which necessitated supplementary funding; and
(c) what was the amount of those shortfalls?

(a) The $2,533,000 is not related to cost over-runs, but rather to cash management initiatives by WA Police. WA Police was entitled to drawdown $5,065,000 in supplementary funding in 2008/09, however due to WA Police having the capacity to fund through cash at bank in 2008/09 it reached an agreement with Department of Treasury and Finance to drawdown 50% ($2.533m) in 2009/10 and the remainder in 2010/11 to replenish the cash at bank. This transaction is the supplementary funding component of that agreement.
