951. Hon SIMON O'BRIEN to the minister representing the Minister for Local Government:
I refer to the effects of the government's policy to
break up the City of Canning between a number of other local governments.
(1) Is it true
that the 2014–15 minimum rate charge of the City of Canning is $621;
and, if not, what is the amount?
(2) What is the minimum rate charge
of the following local governments —
(a) Gosnells;
(b) South Perth;
(c) Melville; and
(d) Victoria Park?
(3) Prior to
forming its policy and making its submissions to the Local Government Advisory
Board, did the government identify the number of Canning ratepayers who pay the
minimum rate; and, in any case, what is the number?

(1) Yes.
(2) (a)–(b) The rate is
$875.
(c) The rates are
$1 160, residential improved; $740, residential unimproved; and $900,
commercial.
(d) The rates are $1 030,
residential; $1 070, commercial; and $1 080, industrial.
(3) The proposal
to the Local Government Advisory Board addressed the matters required by the
Local Government Act 1995. In the 2014–15 financial year, 10 361
Canning ratepayers will pay the minimum rate.
