DOUST to the Minister for Commerce:
I
refer to asbestos removal licences.
(1)
How much does it currently cost to apply for —
(a)
a restricted asbestos removal licence;
(b)
renewal of a restricted asbestos licence;
(c)
an unrestricted asbestos licence; and
(d)
renewal of an unrestricted asbestos licence?
(2) Will these charges change after 1 July 2016;
and, if so, for each of (1)(a) to (d), what will be the new cost?
(3) How are the application and renewal costs
calculated, and are unsuccessful applicants refunded their application fee?
(4)
From 1 July 2015 to date, how many asbestos removal licences were granted for
the categories —
(a)
restricted; and
(b)
unrestricted?
(5)
From 1 July 2015 to date, how many applications for asbestos removal licences
were unsuccessful?

Yes. The new costs will be —
(a)

(3) Fees for the
application and renewal of asbestos removal licences are calculated on a cost-recovery
basis. Licence application fees are not refunded. WorkSafe has a process in
place to pre-screen applications prior to accepting them to mitigate the
chances of an application being unsuccessful.
(4) The number of licences granted
was —
(a) 192; and
(b) zero.
(5) None.
