In The West Australian of Monday, 27 August 2001 the Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs is reported as saying - (a) that long-term prisoners need more help to stay out of trouble after their release; (b) they are less likely to reoffend if they have more help, particularly in the first months after release; and (c) the Government can help by a little more effort being put into easing the path of people back into the community. (1) Is the Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs accurately reported? (2) Does he support measures that will increase the successful release of long-term prisoners into the community? Hon N.D.
