The area from South Mole (South Fremantle) to the Garden Island Causeway (Rockingham) is approximately 37.5 kilometres in length and consists of 23.25 km reserved for parks and recreation (62% approximately) and 14.25 kilometres for other purposes detailed as follows. · 1.5 km Public Purposes (Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour) (4%) approximate · 0.25 km Industrial (James Rocks) (0.666%) approximate · 5 km Industrial (Henderson) (13.33%) approximate · 6 km Industrial/Port Installations (Kwinana Industrial Area) (16%) approximate · 1.5 km Port Installations (Point Peron) (4%) approximate 3&4 In understanding long term strategic planning for the south metropolitan area, as with other parts of the metropolitan region, the government takes into account the recreational needs of existing and future communities.
