The Minister for the Environment; Science has provided the following response: The Department of Environment has advised there were generally no concerns with the installation of liners at the South Cardup Landfill, however there were some minor concerns related to the compaction of the fill beneath the liner system in some areas during the construction of Cell 5. (a) The Department of Environment wrote to the landfill operator to advise that certain actions, recommended by the Construction Superintendent to manage the affected areas, should be complied with during the commissioning of Cell 5.
