(1) In reference to the various projects needed to improve the safety and general condition of the road from Marble Bar via Nullagine to Newman, in what financial years does the State Government plan to allocate the funds necessary for the following much needed works:
(a) major resheeting and associated works;
(b) upgrading the Kalgan River crossing and approaches;
(c) incremental upgrading of floodways along the full length of this Road;
(d) replacing the Fortescue River bridge and associated approach works;
(e) upgrading Nullagine River Floodway and approaches; and
(f) upgrading Jigalong turnoff to Nullagine?
(2) Noting that funds are urgently needed for these various projects, and that the growth of the State’s economy will be advantaged by this upgrade, will the Premier undertake such steps as are necessary to secure these upgrades as a matter of priority; and
(a) if not, why not?

(1 a-f) These road works will be considered for funding in future budgetary process.
(2) The need for the works listed by the Member are recognised and these will be considered in future budgetary processes for funding. It is unfortunate that major improvement works on this road were not undertaken by the previous Government which enjoyed years of Budget surpluses and boom economic times. This was indeed a lost opportunity for the people of the Pilbara.
(2a) See (2) above.
