I refer to the allocation of school support officer staffing at Warwick Senior High School, and I ask:
(a) how many school support staff were allocated for 2011;
(b) how many school support staff are allocated for 2012;
(c) what formula or criteria is used to determine the number of support staff;
(d) does the formula or criteria change for schools which have a large component of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses and, if not, why not, given that schools with a larger component of VET courses require additional clerical resources; and
(e) what measures have been put in place to ensure that schools such as Warwick Senior High School are not forced to service the needs of the school without having to subsidise clerical support from its reserve funds?

(a) School support staff FTE of 15.17 was allocated to Warwick Senior High School for 2011.
(b) School support staff FTE of 17.07 has been allocated to Warwick Senior High School for 2012.
(c) School support staff time is determined in a variety of ways:
. Allocations for support staff such as registrar, school officer, library officer and laboratory assistant are determined annually by school enrolment numbers.
. Allocations for support staff such as Education Assistant Special Needs, Education Assistant Ethnic or Aboriginal Island Education Officer (AIEO) are based on enrolment of individual students for whom that support is required.
. Allocations for cleaning and gardening time are based on an area measurement.
(d) Year 11 and 12 students enrolled in VET courses receive a higher weighting in the staffing allocation formula compared to other Year 11 and 12 students. This results in a higher overall allocation of staff, which includes support staff.  This allocation is not affected by the number of VET courses available at any given school.
(e) The formula for registrar/school officer FTE provides sufficient support time to service the needs of all students within the school. The dispersal of school support resources from within the formula and use of the salary pool is at the discretion of the principal.
