I thank the member for his question. I do not think that people have any reason to doubt the commitment and loyalty of our career firefighters, along with that of our volunteer firefighters and State Emergency Service volunteers, who perform a very valuable job. The member’s question alludes to the fact that firefighters fought a fire in Beckenham a few days ago. Those firefighters from the Welshpool Fire Station faced a situation in which a person was unaccounted for. They therefore entered a building at some risk to themselves to ensure that if someone was in the building, they might be able to rescue that person. Unfortunately, part of the ceiling fell on one of the firefighters. That certainly was reported in the news as being of great concern to the whole Fire and Emergency Services Authority family. FESA really is like a family. Its members support each other loyally. It is certainly very pleasing to announce that no serious injury was sustained by the firefighter, but he will clearly need to be given support for a little while. Best wishes go to him on behalf of all career and the many volunteer firefighters. We praise him for the very courageous work that he is doing and also recognise that he put himself at risk. He will hopefully overcome what are only minor injuries and soon be back to full health. Career firefighters have the loyalty to back each other up, particularly in dangerous situations. That is so opposite to what we see among opposition members. The Deputy Leader of the Opposition clearly has no loyalty whatsoever. He is out to take advantage wherever he can get it. The public can have no confidence in the opposition when they know that people who have no idea of serving, who have no loyalty and who are interested only in backstabbing are taking leadership roles in the opposition. Mr M.J. Cowper : Have you ever run into a burning building or worked for the community in a voluntary capacity? Mr J.C. KOBELKE : Has the member for Murray suggested to the Deputy Leader of the Opposition that he might like to take some of that on board? The member for Murray is very aware of volunteers as he works as a volunteer and understands the loyalty that goes with being a volunteer. Unfortunately, the Deputy Leader of the Opposition does not believe in loyalty; it is a matter of who he can next stab in the back to try to progress his career. Withdrawal of Remark The SPEAKER : The minister referred directly to the member for Vasse in relation to stabbing in the back. I ask the minister to withdraw that comment. Mr J.C. KOBELKE : I withdraw, Mr Speaker.
