GUARDIANSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION ACT — AMENDMENTS
571. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the WA strategy to
respond to the abuse of older people (elder abuse) 2019–2029: 2019–2021
Progress report summary and specifically to strategy 3.5 and its
associated action 3h, which is recorded as ''on hold''.
(1) Is the
minister aware that this action is to amend the Guardianship and Administration
Act 1990 to implement the recommendations of the 2015 statutory review of the
act?
(2) Does the
Attorney General recall telling the Select Committee into Elder Abuse that he
would introduce a bill to give effect to those amendments in the spring session
of 2018?
(3) Did the
Attorney General authorise the government response to the select committee's
final report, which stated that the bill would be introduced in the first half
of 2019?
(4) Is the
Attorney General aware that it will shortly be 2 000 days since he committed in
January 2017 to expedite these amendments?
(5) Who made the
decision to place this strategy and action on hold and when was this decision
made?
The PRESIDENT : Again, that
is an example of running close to the wind in terms of standing order 105.
