STATE
BUDGET 2014–15 — NET DEBT
331. Mr B.S. WYATT to the
Treasurer:
I have a supplementary question. Presumably, Christian
Porter, as the former Treasurer, was aware of the capital works program when he
stated that net debt would peak in 2014–15. I ask again, in what year
will net debt peak and at what level?

Again, I do not think Christian Porter had views as to what
the commitments would be in the 2013 election.
Mr B.S. Wyatt :
What is the Treasurer talking about? They were fully funded and fully costed.
The SPEAKER :
Member for Victoria Park!
Several members interjected.
Dr M.D. NAHAN : I
note the member for Victoria Park's costings, particularly on Metronet,
which included $600 million in savings from Roe 8—talk about fiction.
We are undertaking a capital works program that is transforming this state,
which is largely funded by debt, and we have a program to bring down the growth
of debt and to cap it at an appropriate level.
