Peel Health Campus—Funding281.Mr David Boltto
theMinister for Health:I refer to comments
made by the member for Mandurah at a Peel budget breakfast that the
government's commitment for $152 million for the Peel Health Campus
redevelopment will not cover the full cost of what is required.(1) As the lead Minister for Health, does she
share these comments, given the underfunding could lead to operational impacts?(2) If yes, has the minister raised this
underfunding directly with the Treasurer?

Ms Meredith Hammat replied:(1)–(2) I thank the member for the
question. I do want to say—Several members
interjected. The Speaker:Members! Minister, just wait. Members!
Carry on, minister.Ms Meredith Hammat:I want to say that we are very
committed to this project. One of the things about Peel Health Campus that we
are very proud about is that we brought those services back into public hands.
After the Liberal–National government privatised that hospital, we made
the decision to bring it back into public hands, delivering better care for the
people in the Peel region. We are very proud of the work that we are doing in
that regard. We are committed to the redevelopment of the Peel hospital, and as
the member identified, the Minister for Health Infrastructure is the correct
minister to provide more information about that project.
