I refer to the ongoing redevelopment and renewal of Karrakatta Cemetery and, noting that redeveloped areas are referred to as “renewal areas”, I ask: (a) are people who are interested in acquiring a plot in a renewal area advised what this means and if yes, what information is provided; and (b) have any concerns been raised that by burying their family members in a renewal site, they will have to walk over other grave sites to visit the final resting place of their family member and if yes, on how many occasions has this matter been raised?

(a) People interested in a plot in the renewal area are advised that the area has been renewed. The information provided is that new graves are located alongside old graves in areas that previously were used as walkways, monuments of the old graves have been retained in situ or relocated within the burial area, no remains are disturbed.
(b) No family members have raised this as an issue.
