(1) What is the current status of the Fremantle eastern bypass and the properties along its route that have been purchased by the Government? (2) When will work to upgrade Stock Road commence? (3) When will the Government gazette regulations to prevent trucks from using Hampton Road, and declare this street a heritage precinct? Hon G.T. GIFFARD

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The answer I have is dated 26 June. (1) Reservation is still in the metropolitan region scheme. The Government has made a commitment to remove the reservation from the MRS. The properties purchased by the Government will remain in government ownership until that has happened. (2) No commitment has been made to upgrade Stock Road at this stage. This issue will be considered following completion of the Government’s proposed road freight network review. (3) Earlier this year, Main Roads WA ceased expansion of the heavy haulage permit system. No further decision on truck movements on Hampton Road will be made until the permit system and the road freight network review are finalised. The question of whether Hampton Road will be declared a heritage precinct should be redirected to the Minister for the Environment and Heritage.
