I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Yes. The Carnarvon Regional Hospital has played, and will continue to play, an integral role in the Gascoyne Health Service. (2) I am advised that the only funding appropriated by the Liberal Government in the 2000-01 state health budget was an amount of $200 000 for “Gascoyne Region - Planning”. I am not aware of specific funds allocated to the hospital. The Labor Government allocated $4 million in the 2001-02 state health budget to the statewide allocation for infrastructure and equipment planning. The amount of $9.6 million was never appropriated by the former Government for redevelopments at the Carnarvon Health Service. (3) As indicated, the Carnarvon Regional Hospital has played, and will continue to play, an integral role in the delivery of health care to the rural Gascoyne community. For that reason, there are no plans to close the hospital. (4) Not applicable.
