Hon Colin Tincknell questions the Minister for Transport regarding the adequacy of grain transport routes in anticipation of a record harvest and seeks information on necessary infrastructure improvements to mitigate road accidents and damage. The Minister's response acknowledges the need for more road investment and highlights the government's existing road spending program, without directly addressing the specific concerns.

GRAIN TRANSPORT — ROADS
626. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I make note that this question was asked before the disaster
last weekend.
(1) Does the
state government believe that the grain transport routes are currently
sufficient to handle an expected record grain harvest year?
(2) If not, what infrastructure is
required to cater for the task, in order to reduce related road accidents,
potential fatalities and further damage to current road transport routes?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for
Transport.
(1)–(2)
The minister would always like to invest more in roads and that is why the
government has a record road spending program.
