I refer to the answer given on October 24 2003 to Parliamentary question number 1435 -
(1) Of the 63 classes, can the Minister inform the Parliament which of each of these classes have an early childhood-trained teacher in charge, and the number of classes which have additional teacher time allocated?
(2) Of the 63 classes, how many have a trained early childhood assistant?
(3) What is the qualification of each of those trained assistants?

The Minister has been informed that the information requested by the Honourable Member is not readily available. While it could be sought and collated over time, the Minister is not prepared to commit the resources that would be required, at this time. This period of time, when the Staffing Directorate is allocating positions to schools for 2004, is a highly pressured time of the year for the Department of Education and Training. Further, the information gained would be current for less than five weeks, the time remaining in this school year.
