Funding for the implementation of South West (SW) Plan initiatives, is a key component of the 2002 indicative budget allocation for the Vasse Leeuwin Health Service.
The current focus of the implementation plan is for new and expanded services in the South West including:
a combined regional trauma service between Bunbury Regional and Busselton Hospital,
the phased introduction of an Intensive Care Service, rehabilitation and restorative care services and,
additionally, community health programs such as the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Program and the Diabetes Integrated Care Program will also continue to be developed and reconfiguration of activity from the metropolitan area to Bunbury Health Service will continue. The complexity of this activity is expected to increase and support the reconfiguration of role delineated activity into the health districts.
2-3. The South West Health Executive (SWHE) was established as the key implementation group for the South West Plan overseeing the development, resources and sharing of health and support services between SW health services. The Executive is made up of SW health services, Chairs of the Boards of Management and the General Managers. The current priorities have been identified by the SWHE as the most important areas for service development within the SW Plan.
