Indian Ocean Drive—Planning study375.Hon Julie Freemanto
theparliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Transport:I refer to the
Indian Ocean Drive Ultimate Planning Study final report. Will the minister
please table the report?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question and provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
The Indian Ocean
Planning Study was commissioned to identify long-term planning requirements for
the carriageway. This is a comprehensive investigation that will inform and
guide the future role of Indian Ocean Drive within the regional transport
network and surrounding community.
The intention of
this document is to guide government decision-making. The study complements the
recently completed safety upgrades and will assess future demand for the road,
including potential land development, access requirements and traffic volumes.
The Cook Labor government has invested significant funds to upgrade Indian
Ocean Drive over successive years. Over $20 million is allocated in
2026–27 for upgrades between Jurien Bay and Brand Highway.
