I refer to my previous question without notice No 517 asked and answered on 8 November, on the impending expiration of the agreement entered into by the former State Government and Kingstream under the Iron and Steel (Mid West) Agreement Act 1997, and ask - (1) Has the Government been approached by Kingstream to extend the agreement and has the Government considered the extension of the agreement? If so, for how long? (2) In relation to overcoming the problems created by the previous Government, what merits will the Government consider in deciding whether to renew the agreement, and do these merits include the current poor capitalisation of the company? (3) Have any estimates of funding for a proposed Oakajee steel mill and deepwater port been considered by the current Government? Hon KEN TRAVERS
