METRONET — MORLEY–ELLENBROOK
AND YANCHEP RAIL LINES
1203. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the major project summary
table on pages 54 and 55 of the Public Transport Authority annual report
2022–23 .
(1) In which quarter of 2024 is it
expected that the Morley–Ellenbrook line will be complete?
(2) In which quarter of 2024 is it
expected that operations will commence on the Yanchep rail extension?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to be by
the Minister for Transport.
(1) The Morley–Ellenbrook
line is expected to be complete by the end of 2024. Despite commitments at both the 2008 and 2013 state elections, no
construction, let alone planning, had been undertaken in the eight years of the Barnett Liberal–National government.
(2) Services on
the Yanchep rail extension are expected to commence early next year. Despite it
being named a key transformational project by former Liberal Minister for
Transport Troy Buswell in 2011, no construction had been undertaken on this
project by the Liberal–National government.
