(1-3) The Government's priority at this stage is to establish declared places for people with an intellectual or cognitive disability who have been accused, but not convicted, of a crime. This is prioritised because no alternatives to prison currently exist for this small group of people. The Government has committed nearly $11.3 million in the 2012-13 State Budget to building two 10-bed disability justice centres and a prison in-reach program in 2012-13, with another $6.4 million from the Disability Services Commission.
