I refer to canteens operated in public schools, and I ask: (a) how many public schools currently have a canteen available and operating; (b) of those identified in (a), how many canteens are operated by: (i) Parents and Citizens Association bodies; (ii) the school itself; (iii) a commercial operator; and (iv) other; (c) has there been a reduction in school canteens between 2023 and 2024 and if so, by how many; and (d) what support does the State Government offer to school canteens to support their operations?

d)      The Department provides in-kind support to the Western Australian School Canteen Association. The Western Australian School Canteen Association provides advice, resources, and training designed to support effective canteen operations.
The Department of Health’s Fresh School Nutrition Advisory Program (FreshSNAP) assists schools to implement a whole-school approach to healthy eating. FreshSNAP offers a statewide advisory service and an interactive website that together support the operations of school canteens.
