I thank Hon Nigel Hallett for some notice of the question, to which the minister has provided a response in the following terms — (1) (a) Twenty thousand dollars has been provided to the southern region leadership forum since 2005-2006, which is in addition to the South West Development Commission’s membership of the organising committees. The forums were for regional community groups and included workshops on grant applications and research. In addition, the commission’s grants adviser provides advice on available grants and grant application processes. (b) The commission’s grants adviser provides ongoing grant application assistance. The skills development workshops associated with the southern region leadership forum delivered workshops on events planning and risk management. Assistance with funds for event organisation and coordination may be provided through the regional development scheme, which has provided funds in the past to organisations such as Event Assist—namely, $5 000 in 2007-08 for the Waroona Events Tourism Initiative—and Yarloop Progress Group-Event Assist, which was provided $10 000 in 2006-07 for the “All-Australian Car Day” and the “British Auto Classic”. (2) This can be done by contacting the grants adviser on 9535 0000 for information on regional development scheme funds and for grant advice.
