SWAN
DISTRICT HOSPITAL — PATIENT TREATMENT
743. Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to Mrs Ivanca Pavlinovich, who attended Swan District
Hospital in late October 2009 with a suspected sprained and/or fractured left
ankle.
(1) What
diagnosis and treatment did Mrs Pavlinovich receive on her first presentation
at the emergency department of Swan District Hospital?
(2) Was there an ongoing care plan provided for Mrs
Pavlinovich on her discharge?
(3) On how
many occasions was Mrs Pavlinovich seen by staff at Swan District Hospital from
the initial consultation until she was transferred, seriously ill, to Royal
Perth Hospital on 8 November 2009, resulting in Mrs Pavlinovich being placed in
an induced coma with 75 per cent of her bowel being removed and the amputation
of her left leg below the knee?
(4) Can the
minister confirm that the room occupied by Mrs Pavlinovich and five other
elderly patients was vacated and sterilised upon her transfer to Royal Perth
Hospital, and did any of these other patients contract any bacterial infections
at that time?
(5) Who is going to pay for Mrs Pavlinovich's ongoing
medical treatment and expenses?
The PRESIDENT : The initial parts of that question seemed
to me to be seeking some private patient details, but I call the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Health.

Yes, the member, in
my opinion, should know a bit better.
