In reference to the State Government's funding of the redevelopment of the Tom Price town centre, I ask:
(a) what requirement did the Government leave in place to ensure that disabled access and parking is retained during the whole period of this redevelopment project;
(b) is the Minister aware that the redevelopment project is proceeding in a way that has left local residents and visitors to Tom Price with disabilities faced with additional hurdles and risks in gaining access to their town centre; and
(c) will the State Government take immediate steps to ensure that this redevelopment project, that has been funded by the State Government, urgently puts in place safe disability access for the town centre, and if not, why not?

(a) - (c) Prior to the redevelopment of the town centre, there were three disabled parking bays in the car park, which is controlled by the Shire of Ashburton, two adjacent to the Coles Supermarket, the another adjacent to the Hardware Store. The Shire acknowledges that the revitalisation project has not proceeded in a timely manner and, because of these delays, some disruptions have occurred to disabled parking beyond that planned.
The surface of the car park adjacent to the Hardware Store was removed and a temporary disabled bay was established, however, it was on an unsealed surface which was less than ideal. This section was asphalted in early March.
The disabled bays adjacent to the Coles Supermarket were not removed during the upgrade, however, the deterioration of line marking and restriction of parking whilst works were in progress have resulted in inappropriate use of these spaces. The resurfacing works are now completed and line marking is underway.
