(1) - (2) When funding is provided for sport and recreation, the recipients generally encompass all age groupings and categories. For example, sums in excess of $34 million have been provided by Government to assist in the construction of sport and recreation facilities which are used not only by juniors, but also seniors, women, disable persons and the community in general. For the 1997-1999 period a sum in excess of $32 million was also provided to sporting organisations through the Sports Lottery Account. It is estimated that approximately two thirds of all allocations made benefit juniors participating in sport and recreation.
