I refer to the Budget Papers page 874, regarding Worksafe, and ask -
(1) Why is WorkSafe funding not more clearly identified in the Budget?
(2) How much money is being allocated to Worksafe in total?
(3) Is there money in the budget allocated for new Worksafe inspectors?

The Department of Commerce advises:
(1) In accordance with Treasurer's Instruction 904 the department's current Outcome Based Management framework groups the department's services under three broad areas of services. Service 2: Safety and Employment Protection includes the activities of WorkSafe. EnergySafety and Labour Relations Divisions are also grouped under Service 2.
The budget papers present the cost of providing each of the services on a full cost basis. In addition to the direct costs of the operating divisions contributing to that service, the cost includes indirect costs such as Corporate Support and Governance.
(2) For reasons discussed above, this is not readily identifiable from the printed budget papers. The direct budget for the WorkSafe division for 2010/11 was $18.749m and the department is currently finalising the 2010/11 allocations.
(3) No.
