· The lane configuration on the northern and southern approaches along Mirrabooka Avenue will be realigned to improve sight distance between the two sets of traffic signals on Mirrabooka Avenue at its intersection with Reid Highway. · One of the three lanes in each direction along Mirrabooka Avenue will be turned into right-hand turning pockets onto Reid Highway. · The existing filter system on the right-hand turns at the signals will be eliminated. This will mean that traffic will only be permitted to turn on a green arrow signal rather than allowing it to filter through gaps in the traffic stream. · Anti-skid treatments will be applied to the approaches to Mirrabooka Ave along Reid Hwy improving braking capabilities for all vehicles. These works will be carried out in September of this year. The ultimate treatment for this intersection is the construction of a grade separated interchange. The cost of this treatment would be in the order of $10 to $15million and is currently unfunded. This project would need to be considered as part of future State Budget considerations and would need to compete with many other high priority projects across the State. (2) Refer to part (1) above.
