STATE TAXES AND CHARGES — TREASURER'S
COMMENTS
27. Mr M. McGOWAN to the
Premier:
I refer to the Treasurer's statement about the year
ahead he made on the ABC's 7.30WA on 7 February —
I anticipate that in line with
previous years that taxes and charges will increase.
In light of cancelled tax cuts and already large tax
increases last year —
(1) Which taxes are going to rise?
(2) How much will these taxes rise by?

(1)–(2) Obviously,
the government will in due course make decisions with respect to the budget.
That will include decisions with respect to the price of electricity services,
water, public transport and so on. We have not actually made those decisions
yet, so even if I wished to I could not answer Leader of the Opposition's
question.
