(1) How many groups are there in Western Australia similar to Volunteer South West Inc. which are supported by the Volunteering Secretariat within the Department for Community Development?
(2) What is the total financial support given by the Western Australia Government to the day to day operations of these centres?
(3) Were all these centres funded so that, similar to the actions of Volunteer South West Inc., they could forward multiple copies of ‘Certificates of Appreciation’ to community groups without being requested to do so by those groups?
(4) What was the cost of production, printing and distribution of these ‘Certificates of Appreciation’ to community groups and how many community groups received unrequested certificates?
(5) Were community groups consulted to determine if they considered these ‘Certificates of Appreciation’ to be a desirable use of funds allocated by Government to assist and encourage volunteering?
(6) Is the Minister aware that, of all issues raised by volunteers and volunteer groups, the cost of, need for and general uncertainties associated with public liability insurance are overwhelmingly the concerns most in need of resolution and clarity?

(3) The Volunteer Resource Centres are funded by the state government to support and refer people to volunteering opportunities in a wide range of areas and to promote and support the growth of volunteering within local communities. This is achieved in a wide variety of ways which may include awareness raising activities, special volunteer recognition events, assistance to organisations with certificates of appreciation for their volunteers and good news stories in the local media as examples. Volunteer South West Inc reported that they rang all groups to see if they were interested in Certificates of Appreciation and to ask how many Certificates they would like.
