The honourable member indicated that
the question was directed through me to the Minister for Corrective Services;
is that right?
Hon Robin Chapple : Yes.
Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN : I do not have an answer to that question.
I have a question, however, framed in similar terms asked of the Minister for
Police.
Hon Robin Chapple : It is C954.
Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN : That is the one; it says ''representing
the Minister for Police''.
Hon Robin Chapple : Sorry, it must have been changed. It is
not on my copy. But the question is exactly the same.
Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN : It may be exactly the same, and I can
apprehend that the answer will be the same, but I can answer only on behalf of
the Minister for Police. Essentially, the incident is one that will be the
subject of a coronial inquiry. It is under investigation by Western Australia
Police and, of course, other relevant authorities. I do not have the answers to
those matters and it would not be appropriate to give answers, pending the
outcome of those investigations. I expect that a similar answer would be
presented if it was directed to the Minister for Corrective Services also.
