I refer to the access from sea by boat to the Bent Street boat ramp in Safety Bay, and I ask:
(a) has a safety assessment been conducted for approaching the Bent Street boat ramp from sea; and
(i) if yes, when; and
(ii) if no, why not;
(b) what plans are currently in place to dredge the Tern Island sandbar to provide safer access to the Bent Street boat ramp;
(c) what safety or boat rescue facilities are in place to assist boats that encounter unsafe conditions on the approach, or get stuck on the sandbar, to the Bent Street boat ramp; and
(d) if the recommendation by the Department of Environment and Conservation is that people use the Port Kennedy boat ramp instead, will suitable signage and information be made available informing users of the Bent Street boat ramp of this?

(a)(i)-(ii) This question should be directed to the Minister for Transport as the Department of Transport is the agency responsible for maritime safety and has been involved in plans to improve access to the Bent Street boat ramp.
(b) There are no plans in place to dredge the Tern Island Nature Reserve sandbar. The City of Rockingham is intending to dredge the sandbar to the south of Tern Island Nature Reserve, sometimes referred to as 'Pine Spit'.
(c) The Rockingham Sea Rescue Group vessel is available by radio or mobile phone should boaters encounter difficulties while at sea. Sea rescue contact details are provided at the boat ramp.
(d) This is not the Department of Environment and Conservation's recommendation. DEC has advised the City of Rockingham of its conditional agreement to the proposed dredging of the navigation channel for the Bent Street boat ramp.
