❓ Hon Jess Beckerling inquired about ecological thinning guidelines, operational maps, and thinning prescriptions for 2025-2026 and 2026-2027. The Minister stated guidelines are awaiting approval, operational maps are held by the FPC, and provided a list of Forest Enhancement Areas with their status and noted that Silvicultural Plans are prepared by DBCA.

(a) Ecological thinning silvicultural guidelines are currently in the final stages of approval and are therefore not yet available to be provided.

(b) The Forest Products Commission (FPC) is the custodian of the operational maps.
(c) The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions prepares a Silvicultural Plan for each Forest Enhancement Area (FEA), which incorporate the information requested together with a map, prior to handover of the area to the FPC.
The table below indicates the FEAs in which ecological thinning was completed in 2025-26, remains active or is planned for 2026-27. I table the Silvicultural Plans for each FEA.
