I refer the Leader of the House to the motion passed unanimously by this house last Thursday, which requested the leader to seek from the Premier an explanation about the provision of support staff for members of both houses. The Leader of the House will be aware of that. (1) Has the leader conveyed the unanimous resolution of the house to the Premier; and, if not, why not? (2) If the leader has conveyed the message to the Premier, will he provide the Premier’s explanation to the house; and, if not, why not? Hon KIM CHANCE

(1)-(2) I have not personally spoken to the Premier about it because, as the Leader of the Opposition would be aware, the Premier has been away for at least part of this week. However, I have caused a letter to be prepared and sent to the Premier at his office in Parliament House, drawing to his attention the motion and seeking his response. I feel confident that the Premier will respond in an appropriate way at the appropriate time.
