cyclists not wearing helmets in each month of 2018; (b) How many infringement notices has WA Police issued to
motorists not abiding by the one metre passing law since it was introduced in
2017; and (c) Since the introduction
of the one metre passing law how many infringement notices have been issued by
WA Police to motorists for each month of 2017 and 2018?

The Western Australian Police Force advise:
(a) The number of infringement notices issued in 2018 to cyclists for not wearing helmets is as follows:
January – 68
February – 45
March – 112
April - 74
May - 57
June - 54
July - 53
August - 59
September - 54
October - 54
November - 36
December - 80
(b) Ten (10) infringements have been issued since the offence came into effect on 30 November 2017.
(c) The number of infringement notices issued to drivers for failing to keep a safe distance while passing a bicycle is as follows:

April – 2
May – 1
July – 2
August – 1
September - 1
December - 2
Zero offences were issued prior to December 2017, as the offence came into effect on 30 November 2017. Statistics are provisional and subject to revision. Figures exclude infringements which have been cancelled or withdrawn.
