ABORIGINAL AND ISLANDER EDUCATION OFFICERS —
KUNUNURRA DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL AND WYNDHAM DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL
211. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
Minister for Education:
I refer to Kununurra District High School and Wyndham
District High School. For each school —
(1) How many
full-time equivalent Aboriginal and Islander education officers were employed
in 2013?
(2) How many
full-time equivalent Aboriginal and Islander education officers are employed in
2015?
(3) Has the youth-at-risk program called ''Lifeskills'',
previously offered, been cut for the 2015 year?
(4) Does each
school have attendance officers working at the school for 2015; and, if yes,
how many, and, if not, why not?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) There were
7.18 FTE at Kununurra District High School as at term 4, 2013, and 3.41 FTE at
Wyndham District High School as at term 4, 2013.
(2) There are
7.82 FTE at Kununurra District High School as at 12 March 2015, and 2.70 FTE at
Wyndham District High School as at 12 March 2015. Funding for an additional 0.6
FTE through Community Development Employment Projects is available to Wyndham
District High School, so in fact that is pretty much the same.
(3) No. The
full name of the program is Clontarf Aboriginal Life Skills Program, and it is
running in 2015 at Kununurra District High School.
(4) There were
1.28 FTE at Kununurra District High School as at 12 March 2015. At Wyndham
District High School in 2015 a number of staff, including AIEOs and teaching
staff, have assumed all aspects of the school-based attendance officer role,
including home visits.
