Further to the State Budget announcement of 2012–2013, that $10.6 million has been allocated for continuing upgrades to the Coalfields Highway from the Wellington Dam turnoff to Collie, I ask:
(a) what design work has been done for this section of road;
(b) what privately owned properties, state forestry areas or sections of the Wellington National park have been identified for land acquisition in this area;
(c) has any legislation been drafted for acquisition of this state owned land;
(d) what negotiations have been undertaken with private land owners which may be affected by this section of the Coalfields Highway; and
(e) has any funding been allocated for land acquisition and, if so, what is the total amount?

Main Roads WA advises:
(a) The work from west Allanson to Collie (9 km) is complete. The design from Wellington Dam turnoff to west Allanson is at the final stage.
(b) A number of private properties were affected on the section from Allanson to Collie, all of which have been settled. For the remaining works, two private land owners are affected and land acquisition has commenced. Two separate sections of the Wellington National Park have been identified with environmental assessments completed and the formal process for revocation of this land about to commence.
(c) No
(d) Negotiations with all land owners from west Allanson to Collie are complete and compensation agreed and settled. Negotiations with the two private land owners affected between west Allanson and the Wellington Dam turnoff are in the initial stages.
(e) Funding for land acquisition is contained in the total $25 million allocated project budget. The final costs will be dependent on formal valuations and negotiations with the landowners.
