(8) Health Department of WA Legal advice on a range of matters was sought from Minter Ellison including the following specific matters:- Preparation of new Public Health legislation. Engaged to represent HDWA in Equal Opportunity claim. Presented seminars, facilitation of workshops. Lease matter. Legal representation coronial matter. Consent Policy Legal Guide for public hospitals Industrial advice. Hillview Clinic Review Review of the Tobacco Control Act 1990. Metropolitan Hospitals & Health Services/Other Public Hospitals Legal advice on a range of matters was sought from Minter Ellison including the following specific matters:- Clinical incident reporting. Leasing matter. Workers' compensation and medico-legal matters. Review of Hospital Service Assistant Services - tender Employment and staffing matters. Review of Proposed District Council Charter Advice regarding establishment of District Council Board Education Seminar *Note: Usually hospitals and health services do not directly employ Minter Ellison for medico-legal matters. Riskcover utilises a panel of legal firms for matters that relate to medico-legal or workers compensation issues. Minter Ellison is one of the panel firms. Payments have been made to Minter Ellison on behalf of a number of public hospitals by Riskcover. (9) - (10) I refer to the response provided to questions on notice Nos 1620-1640 in Hansard on 14 March 2000 which detail expenditure on legal advice by Government departments and agencies in 1997/98 and 1998/99. These responses indicate that identifiable expenditure by all Government departments and agencies on legal advice provided by Minter Ellison in each of those years was $385 184.90 and $456 990.85 respectively. Information on expenditure on legal advice provided by Minter Ellison for the period prior to 1997/98 should be sought from the Minister responsible for each Department and Agency.
