(2) (a) - (c) Teacher shortages are not anticipated in either mathematics, physical sciences or any other subjects in 2003. At the beginning of the 2002 school year there were no vacancies in any government school. A similar situation is anticipated for 2003. Potential shortages have been avoided by awarding 38 scholarships to final year students who will qualify at the end of 2002 as teachers in the following areas: Mathematics 8 Physical Sciences 10 Agricultural Science 2 Design and Technology 7 Home Economics 4 Special education 4 IT/Business Education 3 All scholarship holders are eligible for appointment in other learning areas for which they are qualified to teach.
