The Lower Great Southern Regional Strategy is an initiative to develop an integrated approach to land use and infrastructure, including transport, in the region. It is expected - the strategy being coordinated by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure will be completed in mid 2003. The Great Southern Development Commission Strategic Directions 2001 to 2005 was released in 2001. The Strategic Plan outlines goals for regional development in the economic, social and natural environment of the Great Southern region. The Department of Industry and Technology's Telecommunication Needs Assessment, currently underway, will act as a State-wide telecommunications plan. A draft report is due out in March 2003. The plan will set directions for telecommunications expenditure in regional areas like the Great Southern. (2) Not applicable. (3) The above regional planning documents can be obtained from GSDC or the relevant agencies named above.
