That is ridiculous. In
the midst of a high-threat period, an effort is being made by those opposite to
undermine the credibility and importance of an additional asset for the
provision of additional information to Western Australians in threatened areas.
Mr Shane Love interjected.
The Speaker: Leader of the National Party!
Mr Paul Papalia: To undermine the confidence in that
system at this time is disgraceful.
The Speaker: Minister, please just pause for a second.
Leader of the National Party and other members of the National Party, you are
making it very difficult for the minister to respond. If you keep interjecting,
I am going to have to keep calling you to order.
Mr Paul Papalia: Beyond that, at this time for the
opposition—particularly the National Party of Western Australia—to
pursue criticisms and attempt to undermine confidence in community safety is
extraordinary.
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Central Wheatbelt, I am
calling you for the third time. Carry on, minister.
Mr Paul Papalia: On a day such as this, for them to
have indulged themselves in such a selfish and unthinking manner to undermine—
Mr Shane Love interjected.
The Speaker: Leader of the National Party!
Mr Paul Papalia: To actively seek to undermine
confidence—
Mr Shane Love interjected.

I am calling you for the first time. Carry on, minister.
Mr Paul Papalia: Your sole contribution to the Western
Australian Parliament—
Point of order
Mr Lachlan Hunter: The minister is directing his
comments to the Leader of the National Party, not through you, as the Chair,
and I ask you to call him to order.
The Speaker: Thank you.
Mr Paul Papalia: Mr Speaker—
The Speaker: That is not a point of order and I shall
not be upholding it.
Mr Paul Papalia: I'm responding to the person
who asked me the question.
The Speaker: Minister, please direct it through the
Chair, mate.
