I refer to the upgrade of the existing 12 year old media monitoring systems that are reportedly outdated and malfunctioning, and the amalgamation of government wide media monitoring services, and I ask:
(a) what new equipment is being procured;
(b) what is the cost of the equipment;
(c) where are the new systems being sourced from;
(d) what contracts will be entered into to provide services in relation to the delivery and maintenance of the new media monitoring systems;
(e) how long is the contract for to supply and service the new media monitoring systems;
(f) what are the costs of contracts to supply and service the new media monitoring systems;
(g) where will the new media monitoring systems, and related staff, be located;
(h) will the business case for the amalgamation of government wide media monitoring systems and services into a single department be provided, and if not, why not; and
(i) with its increased scope what additional staff will be required to provide these media monitoring services across government?

The work currently being undertaken by the Media Monitoring Unit is for an upgrade of its existing television, radio and print media monitoring systems.
The provision of the recommended media monitoring hardware and software solution and related costs, plus the ongoing maintenance and support services will be determined through the public tender process, currently in progress.
The Media Monitoring Unit is located at Dumas House, West Perth.
