I thank the member for some notice of this question and for her interest in her local regional park. Earlier this year I had a productive meeting with all the chairs of the regional park advisory committees in the metropolitan area. One of the issues they raised with me was the need they felt to have a small fund from which moneys would be allocated to local community groups to do work in the regional parks. I am pleased to inform the member for Wanneroo that, as a result of those representations to me, we have set up a small grants program to be operated by the Department of Conservation and Land Management for grants of between $500 and $5 000 to local community groups to do work in and around regional parks. This work will go to local community groups, particularly those who are doing grassroots-type work on either CALM land or regional parks. I am very pleased to do this. The people involved in regional parks do an excellent job for the environment and also in assisting CALM, and it is excellent to be able to further engage the community and particularly bring forward an initiative that was put to me by these community people serving a very valuable function for us all.
