MARGARET
RIVER GOURMET ESCAPE — EVENT MANAGEMENT
88. Mr P. PAPALIA to the
Minister for Tourism:
I have a
supplementary question.
Several members
interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members! Member for Jandakot, I call you to order for the first time.
Member for Wanneroo, I call you to order for the second time.
Mr P. PAPALIA : Is it not true that the Margaret River
region has a water bottler, a toiletries producer, a butter producer, beverage
producers, a coffee producer and an aquaculture industry, and also produces its
own beer and cider? Why can none of these producers get promoted with WA
tourism dollars?
Opposition members:
Hear, hear!

I was hoping that the member for Warnbro —

The SPEAKER : Members! Member for Cockburn, I call you to order for the first time.
I want to hear the minister now in silence. Please wind it up quickly.
Mrs L.M. HARVEY : I was really hoping that the member for
Warnbro would come back for a second bite. Having those international brands
and products on display in Margaret River gives local producers the opportunity
to demonstrate, by direct comparison, how the quality of their products is, if
not superior, then at least at the same level as those other items.
Mr P. Papalia interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for Warnbro!
Mrs L.M. HARVEY : I know that the member for Warnbro
struggles with the sums, but the way it works when an event like this is put
together is that sponsors come on board and put money into the event to help us
grow the event. I welcome as many sponsors as we can get for the Margaret River
Gourmet Escape—the bigger, the better. More people will come to Western
Australia and we will get better exposure. I invite everybody to mark it in
their calendar for later this year; they should get down to Margaret River, if
not for the Gourmet Escape, then for every weekend before then to experience
that extraordinary destination.
Several members
interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members! Member for Mandurah, I call you to order for the second
time. That concludes question time.
Point of Order
Mr M.P. MURRAY : While I understand that question time is
quite robust and varied, I ask you to rule on how often a question can be
asked. I refer to the recycled water question that I have now heard at least
six times over the last couple of years. I ask you, Mr Speaker, to rule on when
something becomes repetitious!
Several members
interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members! I do not accept that as a point of order.
