(a) (i) and (ii) Assaults against seniors in our community are unacceptable crimes. Police capability to tackle offences fuelled by meth, and family and domestic violence has been increased. Last year, the McGowan Government also released Western Australia’s first elder abuse prevention strategy. For 2017 and 2018 please refer to the answer provided to Question on Notice 5092. For 2019, the Western Australia Police Force advise 730 with 552 in the metropolitan area and 178 in regional WA. The rate of assaults per 100,000 seniors was 189.2. Statistics are provisional and subject to revision.
