URBAN GREENING STRATEGY — PERTH AND PEEL REGION
1215. Hon WILSON TUCKER to the minister representing the
Minister for Planning:
I refer the minister to the Perth
and Peel urban greening strategy, the development of which was announced on 9 February
2024. One of the goals is to increase Perth's tree canopy coverage.
(1) How many submissions has the government received
as part of the consultation process for the development of the strategy?
(2) When will the government release
the strategy?

AnswerView source ↗

I answer this question on behalf of
the Minister for Agriculture and Food, who is out on urgent parliamentary
business, on behalf of the Minister for Planning.
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) Earlier this year, the state government announced
that it would develop the first ever urban greening strategy for the
Perth and Peel regions. The strategy will take a whole-of-government approach
to urban greening and is being developed by
the Western Australian Planning Commission with support from the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and the Department of Water and Environmental
Regulation. The preparation of the strategy
is a significant undertaking and further announcements will made in due course.
